Infertility Treatment

Once the gynaecologist and andrologist have detected the possible causes of infertility in both members of the couple, a therapeutic assessment must be made, providing the patients with detailed information, so that they may participate in the decision-making process together with the medical team.

As part of the therapeutic plan to follow, different factors must be evaluated such as the pathologies detected, the age of the woman, the evolution over time of the infertility and the availability of the couple for different methodologies.  Wherever possible, specific treatments will be applied (eg: treatment with antibiotics when there is an infection).  If there are no factors to treat or if the treatments applied fail, the possibility of proceeding with assisted reproduction techniques must be approached, wherever possible.  The absolute absence of sperm is an example of therapeutic impossibility.  In these cases, the couple may opt to have children through artificial insemination with sperm from a sperm bank or adoption.
