Treatment of testosterone deficiency syndrome

When it has been proved that there is low testosterone together with some of the characteristic symptoms, testosterone replacement therapy should be undertaken either via the daily application of gel on the shoulders, back or abdomen or through an intramuscular injection applied every 3 months.

These treatments are effective and safe if the pertinent medical and analytical checks are followed, every 3 months during the first year and subsequently with annual periodicity.

When to seek consultation?

When, after the age of 50, changes can be appreciated in desire or in sexual function and fundamentally when these are associated with a loss of energy, sadness and ill humour, problems of intellectual performance or diminished strength and/or resistance in terms of enjoyment of life and working capabilities.
